Question by lemily014: Tips on dating a older guy, and dealing with protective parents?
A guy in my church recently admitted to liking me, and I like him back. We both want to start dating, but there is a problem. He’s 21, i’m 17 (for two more months), my parents know we won’t be sleeping around but I know they will still be really protective, they may make us group date and such. Do you think this is fair? Any tips for handling this situation maturely?

Maturity and trust will stem from YOUR actions. If you prove yourself to be responsible, meeting your curfew and not getting caught in compromising positions, they will loosen the reigns a little bit. Approach your parents rationally, accept the rules they lay down (because you still live in their house and therefore need to follow their rules), and I suspect that after a time, if you’ve done what’s been asked of you, they’ll let up.
